My buddys ghetto intake system
haha. we made this at home depot with about 20 bucks worth of junk. It went on a subaru forester. this thing made the car sound so loud.

I doubt there is any loss, there should be at least a 1hp gain if any. You should have seen the OEM 4 piece air box. That thing was restrictive.

It was my old filter haha
He's losing HP, believe me. Intakes are designed to work with the resonance of the engine, and are designed for specific flow characteristics, as well as create proper turbulence for good air/fuel mixture. Even the stock air box does this. That's why companies like AEM charge so much for an intake, because they actually do the research and engineering to maintain or improve these mechanics of the intake.

He is losing HP not only from that, but also from heatsoak. He's lost HP I gaurantee it.

good point...i guess the test took up most of the budget, so the intake had to be "of lower quality"

To bad there not 10 bucks, there more on the line of 200-300. And just to let you guys know, my buddy owns his own shop, and i dynoed it to prove to people like you, thinking its worse then the oem 4 piece box. I laugh, because someone thinks hes all smart saying its worse. But proved you wrong, to bad your dumb to even think that.

Plus it was dynoed on 87 octane, could see anywhere close to 6+ with 94 octane

not sure about the octane... but the dyno results shut the guy up who said your losing horsepower. so buddy who thought the car was shittier then before... IN YOUR FACE...
