Revo SS broke during race..
I was out at the track last night. During my 4th run down the 1/4 my Revo Short Shifter broke. The car was still able to be shifted through all the gears. Anybody else had this happen before? I just installed the stock one again =( looks like i

well i'm not really rough with it.. mainly 3rd gear is the hardest. it used to stick sometimes like hard to get into gear. the stock one is sooo smooth but damn its such a long throw. b & m is the whole unit like the revo? i may try to repare it with some industrial strength like glue. dont really want to spend another $80+ on another one.

that sucks man. I have one at home waiting to be installed, but now I don't know cause I slam gears pretty hard when I'm racing. What did you end up running before it broke?

you could just take the stock one put it side by side the revo, then just bust off where the linkage hooks up on the stock one and move it up to where it sits on the revo, then re weld it there. i have a revo, still solid feeling for me.

i had greys upgrade and capyodas bushings. i have had it for around 1 year. previous to the break i ran a 16.2 i decided not to try to race again afterwards. if you have it sitting around, install it.. whats the worst that will happen? it breaks you just swap it with the old one.

^ya good call. throw it in. takes like 20 min tops to install so if it breaks...no biggy. btw, i have had mine for 2 years no problem. just greased it about a month ago and checked to make sure everything was in working order and **** looked straight!

forgot to throw my 2 cents in.
if that part breaks, that means your 3rd gear engagement isnt flush enough.
what i mean is, if you have trouble going into 3rd gear sometimes and you have to force it in.. then you might not have aligned the shift cable up correctly to the bracket.
or you're not shifting properly enough.. dont just simply slide the shift stick out of 2nd and slam it into 3rd, bringing it out completely then move up may help.
you'll know what i'm talking about if you take a look at how the shifter cable works when you shift into 3rd. the cable should go into the plastic cable surrounding without problems. greasing the cable and the surrounding may help too.
the stock clip that you took off in that area might have contributed to it too.. if it doesnt hold down the shifter cable well enough. I think in Grey's kit there's e-clips that you can use to fit it on better. or you can go to your local home depot/tool store etc. and look for the eclips.
if you decide to glue it back.. use some heavy duty ones.. best bet is to use some extra protection like taping it with heavy duty tape.. or surround it with fiberglass molding etc.
there is a problem with the revo in that the plastic housing they use isnt as strong as the stock one. I have mine for years now without issue, but then again I had all my joints and parts properly greased and checked on them periodically.
B&M isnt complete assembly but its pretty much complete swap. in that you swap out the stock shift stick and add on adapters and all these stuff, search it up. you'll see more info on it. although there's certain issues with B&M ones bending people's cable too. might want to check into that.

oh yeah and when I said the cable isnt properly aligned on the shift stick bracket.. you can use some washers etc. to make sure there's no play at where the cotton pin is at. this way the cable wont move around when you try to shift.

cant recall the name.. but basically you should use ones that are in tubes/packages than spray types.. they generally last longer and are thicker.
lube like EVERY moving parts.
go nuts with 'em. heh.
Revo recommended using a silicone based grease. The best I could find was a silicone based from a pool supply store. Last time I opened it up (to install your bushings) everything was still greased up. I did notice a tear in my boot from a cotter pin so maybe it's getting crap in it...

lol. i teared my boot a wee bit too. damn.
and yeah silicone grease is fine.. but i was thinking of this other one that last even longer. but if everything was still greased up last time then nm.
so I went and got some hitch pin. grey has those in his kit i think. im not even sure if she still has them.
u can grab them at the hardware stores too.
