honestly by the time the air gets to the TB, it will be hot. You might gain some HP, but not much.

K&N FIPK II.

Plastic tube so no heatsink? Check.

Heatshield? Check.

Tube in engine bay so no hydrolock? Check.

No loss of low end torque? Check.

Temperature does matter. Colder dense air makes more power. I have the V2 and would have to say my car seems slower when it's hot outside and the V2 just sucks in hot engine air on top of it. I don't know if it's the V2 or not but my car def. pulls harder the cooler the outside temp gets.

When I had my CAI in, I could DEFINATELY feel a difference when it was freezing out (0 deg F). Seemed like my car went up 20 hp (even though I know it didn't). Felt soo much faster.

Unfortunately, so does the car of your opponent if you're racing someone (at the track, of course) because you guys are in the same atmosphere

I'm not sure. The heatshield fits on to the end of the tube before the filter clamps on. It's custom made for this intake but they probably sell generic heatshields, altho I think I've seen one that was just like silver metal and it looked like it would get really hot anyway. My heatshield is still cool to the touch (just like my plastic intake tube) immediately after driving for about an hour. The metal tubes that AEM and Injen have get too hot to touch after like 5 minutes of driving.

not likely, and going with what Ironfist says, if it wraps around the tube, there is no way unless you use a tool to open up the hole more b/c the V2 uses a 4 inch tube.

As for the main question, the V2 gets fairly warm under the hood in warm/hot weather.... turn on the A/C, have the radiator fan going, and the tube becomes hot, especially in traffic..... but around this time of the year, the car is happy.

all i know is i got a short ram, and up here in ohio in the winter its great....it feels alive and peppy. when i drove to florida last year, in winter, i went from great performance up here, to crappy in southern florida. my car hated it. it just wouldnt get up and go like it does up north. it was just to damn hot and humid.
