V2 for 05?
V2 for 05?
Hey i just got my 05 civic-SE 2 weeks ago and my first mod will be a intake. Im having lots of trouble finding others who have the same car with the AEM V2 intake. I just wanted to know where the filter is placed under the hood cause for some it's just like a short ram which makes no sense to call it CAI. ANy help on this and other mods will be appreciated thanks
Thanks, but do all intakes position the filter there. Because if its sitting there it's sucking in hot air created from the engine (like short ram, i heard that these are no use) but i dunno thats just what i think. Is it this better than the old CAI? Do you feel alot more power even in hot weather?

The V2 for the 7thgeneration Civic IS considered an SRI, but it's slightly longer than the other SRI (Injen, AEM, E-bay, etc.), but not as long as CAI. I have pictures in "my ride" section.... but sometimes it doesnt show. If it doesnt, I'll try to upload it here. V2 is one of the top 3 intakes IMO.... but thats if youre willing to spend $200+ on it.
Last time I had this much fun some furniture got broken!

no intake on a D17 will do any good for what you pay. You will get .1 more MPG and you will get .1 horsepower. dont bother unless you want to spend 300 on a pipe that makes your car louder from the inside.
Yes V2 is one of the best, if not the best, but nothing can help us and our D17s. nothing but rebuilds, boring, swaps, and turbos.

The only CAI that sits true to where it'd actually get cold air is the Injen Race Division CAI... the filter sits in the lower corner of the bumper.
Just get a SRI... it's not gonna make much of a difference.

If I had a cai I would get a bypass valve. Better to be safer than sorry.
I've had a cai intake in my car, and I didn't notice any difference in power. Its the same crap. I like the v2 cause it sits up high (away from water).

so you like the v2 then phuviano? i was thinking about getting it for my 01 lx. i saw the testing AEM did on it, and it looks like it gets a lot more power than a traditional SRI. i have an apex'i N1 on my car. u think the v2 would do anything?

I've had an SRI, CAI, and the v2. I like the v2 the best. I'm sticking with it.

Its like saying you can feel the difference from a car with 115hp and the same car with 120hp. I doubt you will notice anything.

j/pahhh.... for me, it's only a problem if I'm doing a lot of stop and go traffic... and all SRI's suck in the summer time. Now thats it's winter and about 25 degrees outside... the pipe is no where near warm. But, there was 1 member that went drag racing, and his V2 got heat soaked... so..... (would be a good idea to open the hood between runs)
if you have an automatic then go with short ram. i have auto and my short ram did some good for me. and another thing. intake is an intake. on d17 motors, it really dont matter if you have CAI or SRI. i rather get SRI cuz it doesnt suck in water like the CAI do.
anybody have problems with the filter from the v2 knockin up against the battery? I seem to be experiencing this in my 03 el.. and im not sure of the best way to fix this... shorter filter..seems to be my best bet...any ideas?

ahhh... well, I think I had one of the early V2's, it did not have a carb #. I posted some pics and some members guessed that it was a poor welding job. That part that broke was the piece in the middle that holds the pipe in place. AEM did replace it under warranty but it did take a little while. However, I'm not the only 1 that had the problem. I have had the replaced V2 for about 10 months now and everything is fine, except it hits the clutch line, which I solved also.
