I noticed on my car if i have my silencer off my car seems slow and unresponsive. Although when i have my silencer on it regains it's lost low end torque. it is actually better then stock because test drove a stock car just to compare it my car and it definitely was more responsive. Anyone else have a silencer that they use on their exhaust that wants to chime in with their two cents? from what i know very few people use them around here.
yes i have one. catback with the silencer. its not fast or anything but for daily driving it is best. mines will pick up around 3-4k whenever i want to scoot around town. without the silencer it seems to pick up better at 5k-redline, however.
i welded up a silencer of my own for my greddy evo.....had the same experience--more low end with the silencer in, but a little better high end withit out. i always leave it in cause i think it sounds badass

The reason if feels less responsive when the silencer is off is because you have less back pressure. Its like when people install larger exhaust piping, all of the sudden they lose bottom end torque.
welded it in? thats awesome. i want to do it too! it sounds badass with it in when i am holding the gas down, but my idle sounds like crap. its sort of a "put poot put" really fast. i think the silencer is vibrating or something.

depends where your located. i know here in canada canadian tire sells them. i'm sure there's a website that sells them. tanabe also sells silencers for their exhausts. although my tanabe did come with one. http://www.tanabe-usa.com/exhausts/baffle.asp

hahaha o shoot. my bad, yeh ractive. anyways... yeh the guy who had the car before me put it on. it use to sound great, until i put the 2.5'' pipe with no cat on. that it just got louder. same deep sound just loud. people in town tell me how much they love my car and how it sounds great even though i'm very critical of it. anyways lately me and my friend drive each others car everywhere for fun (his 98 lude is badass). anyways. it does sound better then 99% of the vics in my town but i'm just not a fan of that loudness. point of the story is that i want a silencer until i get my turbo. so is it possible to use a tanabe silencer or what? i'm desperate.

well this looks like what i want...http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...sPageName=WDVW.
is drilling a hole in my tip gonna hurt anything?
also should i question quality? this is like $22.00 but a tanabe one is $99. i'd rather pay more for something that works better.
