Spoon Sports strut tower bars for our vics...(how to)
Spoon Sports strut tower bars for our vics...(how to)
well my bro sells spoon mugen and various other high end japanese car parts in his business and laying around was a dc5 (rsx-s) strut bar so i figure it would fit on a vic but minor modifications were nescessary we got it on and it looks pretty good.
long story short if anyone is interested i asked and he said he would sell them for 215-220 (i know its kinda up there but i guarantee barely anyone maybe nobody else has one now) because the time and effort he must put in to them to make it look right
ill post pics of mine tomorow cus my camera batteries are dead now and its dark.
mine wasnt done as nice as one for you guys would be cus i just wanted to head home and throw it on there
let me know if your interested

look get an underbrace or full sway bar replacement kit.
a solid 1 peice strut bar is all you need no need to "upgrade" you will be paying for a name
yea spoon doesnt make one for em2
and what he did was just cut a little chunk out and drill like 1/2 an incher from where it was already drilled for the bolt...(nothing ****in with the welds tho)
as for the whole 1 piece three piece argument... im not sure exactly why spoon made it a three piece but they did but i like spoon sports so we decided to do this
and as for ebay stuff it probably works good but if you did get nicer brands it would be built alot better and youd feel more of a difference although i agree with the other guy that it may not be worth the money to upgrade both as opposed to sway bars or sumthin

out of my knowledge, wouldnt messing around with strut bars or whatever for that matter of fact that has to do with suspension (stiffer in this instance) mess with the structural integrity of the object.
what i'm trying to say is, wont "modifying" a strut bar to fit a car that its not supposed to weaken the structure? because you're basically taking material out of the bar. get it?

i dont know if mines are real spoons or not...i probly got ripped off, but i got them from hondawerx.com and they fit perfectly and cost around $200 shipped or so a piece...that was a few months ago. i had to get rid of my cai intake though...
i dont think it would weaken the structural integrity. im not an engineer so i cant know for sure neither can anyone on this forum as far as i know but the piece we drilled through was solid aluminum and wasnt far off from where the original whole was. theres still plenty of material left before the welds and the bar in my opinion isnt getting enough stress in the right points to fail becaus of the modifications
clearly everyobody hear is skeptical and very opinionative about strut bars so rather than starting one of those anoying threads were everyone argues and bitches i will say this
forget the whole thing cus i dont feel like dealing with anything about people thinking im bullshitting or w/e so just get it off ebay and buy me a nice dinner with what ya save okay

I`m not too sure what you drilled to get it to fit. But I have both front and back Spoon strut bars and theres nothing wrong with the fit. It bolted right up no worries at all. Can`t imagine why there would be a difference from each bar that come from the factory?
As for only fitting with a stk airbox, this is kinda true. The gap between the airbox and strut bar leaves like no room to do anything, without going custom that is.

boilermake knows that they don't make one for the em2 because the only strut bars currently that are made for em2's that will fit a CAI are DC sports (3peice) and neuspeed (1 peice). all the generic brands or like the spoon one that u modified fit but then u can't put a CAI on because the way our throttle body's sit.
