Intake- improves gas milage?
"intakes actualy improve gas milage" - I have never heard such rubish
an intake will not improve your gas milage.
warmer air (from SRI and metal piping) + more air (from crappy filter) + more gas (to compensate for air) = decreased gas milage

I always gas up between 350 and 400 miles. If you floor it from stops a lot or drive faster than 60-70 on the highway a lot, then your mpg will suck. Don't forget that your mileage will probably be off if you have aftermarket wheels or tires.

lot's of people, including some mechanics told me that intakes improve gas mileage, but after reading all this I dunno what to think? Either way i'm still gonna get a CAI, but it's not much of a priority on my to get list...

i always gas it between 350-400, but my gas light comes up at 340 and i just hold off on the gas light till i reach like about 45 miles on gas light. then i gotta fill up before i hvae to start pushing the car to the gas station. i always full tank the car to about 12.3
well so to improve my gas mileage with my cai i would have to get header and exhaust so that the air would flow better?

after you get the CAI, drive like you normally would and see for yourself...a lot of ppl get the intake, like the sound and floor it too much to get even 32MPG. (that kind of happened to me)

I get 350 to 400 miles to a tank with a stock intake and I live in Houston where the humidity and temperature is high 90% of the time. Brother ran the same stock on his civic and then bought a AEM CAI and increased his mileage a bit.
Your civic is adjusting to how much fuel is going in but not so drastically to where you should have these devastating numbers. The car does manage how much air is going in but the air is denser which will give better number no matter what unless you have another problem somewhere else. In all my family, there are never been a decrease in mileage due to an aftermarket intake.
But performance wise, you might as well save your money. Not worth it.
