Thumbs up napa gold filter

I just put back the stock airbox and replaced the filter with a napa gold paper one. I actually did my research this time. It filters better than K&N and doesn't sound ricey at mid rpms. I'm very happy with it. You can order one through napa auto parts locally.

Napa Gold filters are some of the best. They filter A LOT better than K&N and they flow pretty good too.

Your engine thanks you.

Wow finally someone agrees. Everyone else here keeps defending K&N. I did too until I saw the proof on another forum.

I agree becuase I don't just listen to stupid advertising.

K&N filters are CRAP... plain and simple. Send a used oil sample in for testing with a K&N filter then send one with a good paper filter. I guarantee the place doing the testing will be able to tell which sample has been run with a K&N filter. The oil will have a considerable amount more contaminants in it.

Yup stock airbox and it's only $13 for the replacement. I'm sure it filters better than stock just by the way it looks. I've heard they are actually made by wix and are very high quality. You probably won't notice a performance difference, but it will be filtering better than a K&N for sure. Probably similar to stock paper filter.

What is the difference between a purolator cone filter, napa silver, and napa gold filter? I want to keep my intake but are there any cone paper filters out there that I can use?

I found a purolator cone filter that fits the fipk perfectly. The part number is in the other air filter thread.

I've had my Napa Gold sitting here for the last week... Still waiting on Majestic to get me my new airbox lid before I perform surgery on the old one to remove it No one around here had it, so I ordered with along with my NGK IX plugs. This sounds promising, can't wait to get mine in!

I used K&N filters for years without any problems...do they filter the most the answer is NO..do they filter enough the answer is YES...since a i never had any problem they're good for me, but you must not clean them to often 25-30k cause they filter better when slightly dirty...good for saving $$$ in the long run...and i love the sound of my AEM SRI and it's look too!!!

You're right about leaving them dirty for a long time. They filter less air when new. And if you're sure they're filtering ENOUGH, maybe you should have an oil analysis done to see how much silica is eating at your internals. You might be surprised.

vtec01ex, I also had to do surgery on mine, but it was easy. The plastic around the screw holes is so brittle, I was breaking it off like butter with my screwdriver. Just may take time to do more than one. Three of mine broke on me, so now I make sure the screws are hand tight only.

napa gold beats all of those. Only other choices are baldwin or donaldson, but those are harder to find.

It's supposed to be a restrictive filter, but it feels the same (if not better) than the K&N I had. Someone did an independent test comparing K&N, napa gold, amsoil, and some others. napa gold came out near the top. Baldwin was a bit better, but they are more for industrial equipment.

You know how K&N claims their filters are within 99% of stock paper filtration? Well that 1% really adds up over the years.

I've noticed that the napa gold filter is quieter than K&N. It even feels different, but maybe that's in my head. Needless to say, it's a quality product. Don't let the store brand fool you, because they are actually made by wix corp (very high quality).
