how light is your flywheel?
ya at fidanza they say it weights 7lbs. damn and take only like 15hp to make it spin. unlike the stock which they said can take up to 40hp. but they didnt say how much on the civics. but ya. how much did you pay for it? they didnt give a price. thanks

9lbs and under is for race use and boasts shorter life span but faster revs. 12-13lbs. is recommended for street. I think the stocker is like 17-18lbs, maybe 20.

i didnt know the stock flywheel was that heavy.. i thought it was like 20lbs

ok.. clutch is installed, the stock flywheel weighs 18lbs
it revs up much faster now, and still seems drivable, the ACT heavy duty pressure plate
the main difference ive noticed was that the clutch was much harder to engage, and i have to press it to the floor to shift smoothly, its gonna take a little getting used to
but, I LIKE IT

ive only stalled once.. and that was the first time i moved my car...
it feels like an older car with a cable clutch, its still nice since theres hardly any lag in the powerband when im cornering, well when i would be downshifting through the gears, it usually bogs down for a second, but it is tending to break loose in corners
BTW, i got an ACT street disk with that pressure plate, its not a harsh engagement, but with the heavy duty pressure plate, you cant drive your civic like you used to, its no longer soft clutch, so you are gonna get your left leg pumped up before you know it

it seems fine for me... i dont see what the big deal is... i think the rule of thumb is dont go more than 60% of the original weight, so 7lbs fairly reasonable
the clutch is harder to engage but its nothing that cant be dealt with

its NOT, the only downside to having this light of a flywheel is how quickly it drops in rpms when not on the gas, BUT its still drivable, and predictable
and it is only 60% lighter than the stock flywheel
you should not jump to conclusions until you tried it, ive tried it, and its not as bad as ppl say it would be, those 8lbs flywheels on those high powered machines depends on the motor, for example, a mazda kl03 flywheel wieghs 23lbs fidanza has a 9lbs flywheel, 60% of the wieght of the stock and some would argue that it is too light for that motor, ours wieghs 18lbs, the fidanza flywheel i have is 7lbs, which is 60%, a drag motor would probablly have an 8 or 9lbs flywheel since its a v8
now having a fully built turbo has nothing to do with reducing the rotational masses of moving components in the motor or other parts of the car, it just makes it easier to move the crankshaft, its the same effect as taking 200lbs off of your car

You ahd to of weighed that thing with vthe clutch and pressure plate on, cause wow, thats too heavy, I thought we were at 13-15lbs but as long as we stay within 60% weight of the stock we should not have problems, I still want the 6lber though lol

I asked this on another flywheel thread but just needed to know before I get this fly too--as far as the reduced mass which does help us revv faster and at lower speeds and gain speed faster due to the reduced mass, what about at like 90 mph? Will the reduced weight make it revv way higher than the normal 4500RPMs I normally get or will it actually get lower RPMs because of the less restriction? See I thought that stock weight is what kept it slowed down at those higher speeds???? Need advice pronto---Thanks ~Stevo
