Simple Mods??

Hey guys I'm a newbie to the forum as well as civics. I just bought a 2004 Civic Si-G (Canada version so in the states it probably the hx model) and wanted to know what are some simple mods to start off with. I'm not thinking anything too crazy yet. I want to add a some more hp so i'm assuming the easiest thing to do first is the exhaust. If i'm right then what would I have to do to the exhaust? Remove catty (or leave it in) and add a better muffler? What do you guys suggest for starters?

well as far as performance the only thing i would touch is getting a full cat back and not just some rinky dinky muffler...honestly though. Intake=waste.....Headers=Waste IMO....so don't waste your money on anything for the engine unless you go F/I

i would get speakers first since i listen to it everyday.

as for performance, i would suggest save your money.

maybe starting off with suspension would be a better idea but thats just me.
you can start off with an exhaust catback system which can cost from $250-500+ depending which one fits your tatse.

start straight off to the suspension.....bars,light weight rims, coilovers

then put some infinity kappa speakers and run it with an alpine headunit....i love my alpine/kappa speakers

Well...

the stereo system is all taken care of. I put in my deck and my 2 12" subs. I wasn't thinking any engine work anyways unless I started raking in some good $$$. What kinda cat back system you guys recommend? As for rims 15" would be the way to go?

its all up to you man. people will tell you many different things because everyone has their own opinions.

if your not into performance, you should check out the hks hi power rear section which isnt a catback but an axle-back. www.roberracing.com has it for about $295 shipped i believe.

as for wheels, it depends on what your looking for.. show, track, lightweight, etc. ME personally, i would go with 17" or 18" because im more into 'show' then go. if i were to choose some 15" or 16", definately some tuner wheels like rota/volk/mugen/spoon/etc. but those do cost a lot of money eventhough their only 15"

to some people, its hard or easy because they been through the same process before. but i really think front speakers are more important then the rears. i currently have polks in the front and stocks in the back and its been good so far.

Well you can replace the front speakers at least. Rear isn't as important for imaging if you're sitting up front anyway. But yeah, rears are very difficult tochange. I would focus on looks over performance if you don't have alot to spend, but save up for the bigger, better mods like body kit. Don't get stupid mods like taillights and intakes. I learned the hard way. Believe me, you'll get tired of that stuff quick. And stick with the 15" rims if you want to keep that good acceleration.

Yeah I was thinking a cat back system and just rims but since I live up here in edmonton I can only use the rims for maybe 5 months. That's another thing I don't want to go over board on the mods cause I still gotta drive in the winter with the car.

Hey i was also wondering does taking out the cat converter add some power or is it pointless? Or would it be better to just get a high flow cat converter?

15 inch Rotas are light and cheap...look into those for rims.

It adds some power. I've heard it's always better to be catless as far as performance is concerned...less hindered airflow. Get a catless header and bolt a nice exhaust to that header.

Are catless exhausts illegal in Canada?

i dont think going catless is a prob cause my girlfriend got hers taken out when it died and they never replaced it at the shop. So i'm assuming it's not a prob.

If you car is over 5 years old and you have to take the emissions test then yes it might fail it but im guessing that most of our cars haven't (or shuouldn't for no reason ) be 5 years old yet
