Radar Detectors
I still have my cobra, it was liek 169$ 2 years ago. Saved my *** about 1000 times. I was going to save up for a valintine, or escort.... but i dont think they will work that much better. If your going to get the cobra just dont get the talking one... its really really anoying.

I bought the Passport 8500 a few weeks ago. It is definately worth the money. I did all the research etc. It usually goes for $299 but on ebay you can get it cheaper. I paid $235 plus shipping for one brand new still sealed in plastic.

My bro has the Valentine one but, lately the cops here have been turning off the radar gun and then just randomly turning it on so that the radar detector can't detect it or it will but it will be too late...I have the cobra one and it's been good to me so far...

I had that one too for like 2 weeks, and then returned it. Bought a passport or something like that and returned that one too. I'm gonna try to get the cordless one, cause the ones with cords are plain ugly.

The ones we have in Winnipeg are tough to pick up. The cops simply fire a burst at your car, and it tells them how fast you are going. In the short time they send their burst, that's when your detector will go off...but it'll already be too late.
And yes, they're illegal in Manitoba.

That's actually how the modern guns are designed, it's called instant on... it's a bitch and how I got my ticket, no radar detector on this planet can protect against that. That's why when you're speeding you need someone in front of for the signal to bounce off of so your detector can detect it.

cost around 400 dollars, you can only get them off that site. Better than the cobra, and all those low end detectors, but costs a little bit more.

I have used several non V1 brands over the years and not been happy wiht any of them.
They were always going off when I drove past stuff like grocerie stores, never going off when I passed police until I was too close to do anything about it, and giving the police a reason to not go easy on me if I did get pulled over.

i am also looking for a radar detector I just dont want to buy the wrong thing, I will be going back and forth from vermont to Dudley Mass Mostly highway what should i get
Get the ESCORT 8500, its worth the money and trust me its better than V-1. i have had it for about a year now and no tickets and its saved my *** from a lot of lasers and even the photo radars where they take the picture of ur cars license. so trust me it works and get it from ebay or u can get it from car toys or tweeters, where they give u warranty and if u pay 30 dollars more u get upgrades to the newer passports without paying for the price of a new one. ENJOY ur new radar
I have a detector from radio shack and it goes off really bad when the car has been off for more than 2 hours and the rev hits 3,000! it's really sensetive and i love that but i just hate it for the first 15 minute after i start my car>
