faster civic and better gas mileage

Alright, i own an 03 civic wit sri intake, exhuast headers, and diy throttle, was wondering what can i do besides turbo and nos to make the car faster? Also what are some things I can do to make the car perform better like spark plugs, high performance gas and oil? And also anyways to increase gas mileage? BTW for gas I use 87, if i went to 89 or higher it probably wouldnt make any difference right since i started at 87?

Well, the intake caused you to lose low end power, while the header helped the top end. If you're lucky, maybe you gained 1hp. Not trying to be harsh, but I've been through all that and I've since gone back to stock. It's much faster that way. Here's some little stuff I did to help performance. Not much, but still good to do.

-NGK iridium IX spark plugs (because my stock plugs went bad)

-OEM K&N air filter

-Ground wire kit

What I'm looking into next is the DH racing crank pulley. Claims to give at least 10whp for the dual groove pulley and 20whp for the single groove.

If you don't want turbo, then your only option is to build the engine with ported head, etc.

If you cant get more out of the engne...... Make the car lighter.

Lighten every thing... Take all of the sounddeading pad out, get some Light weight seats, if you have power windows, change them, Get the lightest wheels you can afford, see if you can find some lighter control arms, Basically remove any thing that isnt absolutly nessisary.

This can be done with out making the car Undrivable, basicaly its what honda does with their Type R cars.

hmmm...you could...
take out the back seats and any other useless garbage that weighs the car down like spare tire, carpet, passenger seat, glovebox, center console, dashboard (it'll be better cause you could mount your gauges sporatically hanging from the windsheild and floorboard or something)
take off your power steering and air conditioning
That will net you about 25 horsepower right there for zero duckets.

How many mpg are you getting now? I get at least if not more than 400 miles on a full tank and I use 87 octane. However, I never drive hard and the only mods I have are a K&N Typhoon Intake, and 18" wheels.

I just put 93 octane fuel in my car, right before i stored it. From the gas station to my house, I noticed a nice difference in the way the engine performed. It ran smoother and had a little bit better throttle response. The exhaust smelled really good too, nice and rich.

400 miles with 18s AND an intake? unless youve got an HX, i find that very hard to believe no matter how tame your driving manners are! or- i guess you could pull it off if you drive long distances all the time e.g. highway miles.

/\ It shouldnt be that hard to believe considering our cars get 32/39mpg with 5 speed. at 400 miles on a tank thats only about 30mpg Im still not getting the full potential.

My mileage sucks. Usually hovers around 22mpg city. The highest ever was 30mpg, but that's with 100% highway miles. Car is mostly stock, with small 15" rims and one sub.

Good mod might be an Apexi AFC. If you get it tuned well you could get more hp and maybe even get better gas milage.

I think 93 octane is good for ocassional only, because if the car get used to it, it will knock later and you can't have a higher octane for the car......

hey SOHC- i got 400 miles on one gallon before with my 18s, intake, headers, and exhaust. it's rather hard to do tho. i think i used 93 octane, kept it in 5th everywhere, and ran the tank nearly dry, from top to bottom of the gauge. like i said its hard to do but not impossible. i only did it once.
