i hate to start a whole thread on this, but i need an answer quick. i ordered a cold air intake and i am not familiar enough w/the engine parts to put it in myself (im sure i can, just not confident enough). and i called a performance shop and they said it would be $35 an hour, and it wouldnt take any longer than that to install it. is it worth it?? or should i just find someone who knows about an engine to do it? i dont want to mess up anything. or, should i go crazy and do it myself. ( i looked at the DIY and it was like looking at a foreign language)

well $35 for an intake is a little steep....but if you are uncomfortable doing it, then i guess take it thier or find someone to do it for you. personally, the honda motor is so easy to work on. the intake install is a simple bolts come off, stock air box comes out, new intake goes on, bolts go back on, your done. there is really nothing too it. just take your time and follow the steps and be proud u did it yourself, and a little wealthier also.

my dad has more tools than he has hair on his head. and the whole "jack up the car" thing kinda gave me goosebumps. i will end up killing myself trying to do that, so i think i'll just find a friend to do it or something.
Find a friend to do it for you its not really that hard and the tools needed are minumal also its kinda fun because youll learn a little bit about your engine, but find someone who has an idea of how to do it or knows cars enough to unbolt some stuff and bolt some stuff back on its all pretty basic. but good luck and 35 dollars for an intake is alot, the shop around me will put full exhaust on for 50

I put my cold air intake on and did have to jake up the car.
If your Pops has a bunch of tools then he will be able to do it.
Bond with your Pops and do it together (you hang out while your dad does the work).

and while we're on the subject, yall tell me the "good" things about cold air intake. not about the little bit of hp, and not about the sound. because i know my dad will ask and i dont wanna be like "SO IT CAN SOUND GOOD". so what are the good things i can tell him about what it does...

Think I average about 340 on a tank running 89 octane.
