Strut bar problems
About 1 month ago i bought a Type R strut bar and it was tooo close to my AEM intake! I tried to bind it w/some tape so that the strut wont get hit into. Last week i took off the strut bar to re-bind it and my intake was partly cut into! Luckly i ordered an extra AEM intake by accident that i was going to sell and i replaced the intake and am not putting that strut bar back in. I want a strut bar b/c i felt the difference it did w/turning. Does anyone know of a strut that goes around the intake??? Thanks

Neuspeed. Solid. Fits. Period.
BTW, the X-brace is well worth it for the civic as well.
Made a big difference in straight line stability for me.
Car is solid on the freeway now, no wandering.

I asked dezod about a group buy for the tanabe sustec underbrace. He is looking into it. I think its much better than the neuspeed. It doesn't sit as low and is a 4 point diamond shape.
isnt the type-r bar the cheapest one? It's $15 on ebay; thats pretty cheap. I have one of those for the rear arriving UPS today, and if it works well I'm going to order one for the front. I have an ebay intake, and it doesnt sit up very high, so hopefully I'll be fine. I've heard people say they felt a difference with the ebay bar, so I dont really see the point in spending another $65; is it really THAT much better?

I will buy it off of you as long as it goes around the intake. My strut bar cost me 30 type r garbage and still hit my intake. Is anyone selling their strut bar that goes AROUND the intake? im looking to spend 20 bucks.

no; found out I can't. I have an ebay intake, and from what I've heard it doesn't fit. Oh well, im getting a Revo SS soon, then saving for a Neuspeed.

better hurry, when i called rob there were a bunch of bars sittin on the floor but they wont be there for long!
Hey make sure you get yourself some sway bars before you purchase those struts. yes struts do help to keep your chassis together but its only really beneficial when you are driving a power house. A civic isnt a power house so struts are mainly used for style under the engine bay but if you really want to buy something with purpose get yourself set of front and rear sway bars they help to keep your tires on the pavement while reducing body roll and you know what that means, more tire on the road more traction equals better performance

sorry to be blunt but Strut bars and tie bars are allways good. Chassis Flex is bad for handling, and reducing the amount of chassis flex is paramount to being able to tune the rest of the suspension... All cars have chassis flex when they turn, from civic to Viper. Though some have more flex then others. if the chassis flexes then the cars suspension won't be working as well as it should. So, all cars can benifit from reinforcing the chassis, even Non-"powerhousese".
And dont confuse body roll or the lack there of as a sign of a good or poorly handling car!
Reduction in body roll is a secondary concern for handling.
now on to adjusting the Roll couple distribution, the Big issue if she wants to have her civic handle better. Right now her civic is designed to understeer. Alot! and this means that the roll couple (The ratio of roll resistance on the front of the car Vs the rear) is biased to the front. so what happens is that the front tires get more weight applied on to them durring a turn and they become "saturated" quicker then the rear tires so the nose pushes (Understeer). to reduce this problem she needs to increace the rear roll resistance by either geting springs that have a higer rate, or by increacing the size of the rear anti-roll bar. The RSX 19mm bar works nicely here. it will reduce the ammount of understeer but not to the point that the car will want to oversteer, which is harder to control and thus more dangerous then understeer. she could get larger anti-roll bars, but then whats the point, sure the car will roll less, but the roll couple will be adjusted more twards the front again.....
So, Unless she is willing to invest a lot of time in to tuning her suspension, then getting the RSX's 19mm bar is perfect. especially if she dosnt plan on any other suspension mods.

hmm its really a matter of preference im sure that everyone one on these boards have there own opinions when it comes to whats the best way to improves handeling im not here to insult ppl or say other ppls opinions are ignorant so if insulting ppl makes you feel better about your advice then continue to do so. Anyway like i said before i would purchase Sway Bars before i got struts i never said i wouldnt get struts just that "FOR ME" sway bars are more beneficial

sorry about that, i get caried away some times
It looks like she just wants to make her car handle better. Not nessisairly be a track demon. So I'd advise her to get the cheepest part that will give her the most benifit. I.E. the RSX 19mm rear sway bar.
Not sure on prices, Sorry

The neuspeed front bar WILL fit with ANY intake. It is well worht your money and much better than the dc sports one. You can get one for around $100. It is well worth it.

And Novaz, the RSX rear sway bar fits the civic for your information. Both zzyzx and myself have it along with other members. The ITR and CTR ones will fit too. It comes from sharing the same chassis. Most strut bars will fit also, unless you have an intake in the way.

im talkin to people on the RSX board, and Im getting a rear sway bar for $55 shipped. Lots of people offered $60 shipped, so I'd say that would be a good price to start at.
