I got the CP CAI off ebay and it is alright .
But the filter is stainless steel so I swapped it for a K&N.

just change the filter if it is cheap. why would you want to pay 200+
for a metal tube?

^^ i don't see why not. if it looks and sounds good, there's no reason to spend more money on something similar. i bought a megan knockoff muffler off ebay, and it's pretty good quality. i know someone with a BOMZ muffler. it's pretty nice.....

who cares if it is generic or not. if you feel comfortable using it then use it. the onlt drawback with the ebay intake is that the fiyament is not all that well

I have a AEM cai replica. I installed it on my auto only after bending the brackets to fit correctly.
Watch out for the sellers who dont include all the necessary hardware for proper installation.

ak can only hope to improve
1) Filter is not K&N
2) Fit isn't perfect all the time. Some people have actually CRACKED the arm that holds the extension tube.
3) Piping doesn't have that high quality glossy AEM/Injen paint
4) No C.A.R.B. sticker

Indeed. $200+ for and AEM? I think not. How about $50 for a knock off and another $35 for a K&N filter. Yes....much better.

I dont care about the glossy AEM paint..my hood stays closed unless I'm working on the car.
Don't need CARB unless you live in CA.
Tube doesn't fit? A dremel and zip ties can fix damn near anything.
Just my 2 cents.

Yea...cause then you would notice a diffrence.
Did my sarcasim shine through?

Also I read said review and in your own review the Ebay was only 1mph slower than the aem. without a header...Really was the $250 you spent on the K&N worth the extra 4 mph? If it was then more power to you...It wouldn't be for me.

4 mph is a big difference. Realize we are talking about mph and not hp. These were also consistant results... actually I've only done ONE speed test with the aem cai ex-mt version. I did multiple with the lx/dx-mt. (but I have an ex) If it matters, I've also only done one speed test with the kamikaze header w/ stock cat

I also forgot to add to my review that

and I got the fipk for $180. If you don't like it, then just go with the generic. when you lose a race by a half-car length, then don't be disappointed you spent the money on an ebay intake.

And, if you did your math correctly (which you didn't), then you will realize that it is a 5 mph difference between the fipk and the ebay intake.

On another note ... I don't know if it's just me ... but my 3rd gear for my aem cai does not pull hard ... (well it does now ... now that I am straight piped) ... however, without a header, 3rd gear pulls like a slow bitch. With fipk it was quick ... then again, it only went to 80 mph and not 88 (woo ... time to go back in time...)

btw ... the ebay cai is an exact replica of the aem cai ... except for two features ...

1 ... the paint is HORRIBLY cheap ... you could almost scratch if off with your finger nails

2 ... the bottom pipe on the cai is NOT wider on the ebay one ... like it is with the aem one. All of the piping on the ebay cai is about 2.2" ... while the top part of the aem cai is about 2.25" ... and the bottom is about 2.75" ... not sure why that is, but aem did their research and they did everything for a reason

I didn't buy the civic to try and win any straight line races. That would just be silly. I would have bought a neon SRT4 if that was my goal. I'm not shitting on the K&N...you do get what you pay for...I just don't think it's worth the money for 4 or even 5 mph.

I have a bomz muffler and 2.25 inch piping and it sounds nice as hell, also bomz does make a catback, but I am not sure about our car. I wouldnt mind having a apexi N1 muffler though or the N1 catback exhaust system, **** looks nice.

I own my own company and we bought the injen cai, and we got a shogun racing from ard performance alot cheaper. They we the same thing. The only diff. was color. Honestly the shogun looked cooler. The only ones I hate are weapon r. We tried one of these pieces of s**t on three different cars and none of them fit at all. I do not know if they make one or not but iceman will give the most improvement because they are plastic. Metal heats up faster and hotter than plastic. Some people on here will probably disssagree with me because they do not look as good. But if you want remeber "function before form"

u edited.

what does it matter i f i have a civic or not? my cousin lives down the street from me and we basically share the car. i do all the modding to it, he and i both drive it. big whoop. I'm more informed that you anyway, so you cant use "i have a civic, you dont. stfu" excuse anyhow. Not to mention all the other cars i've worked on from hondas, to toyotas, to porsches, to even ford (omg!). now for pure fashion...

"damn always some lame *** fool in the West talkin ****. You're from California (home to more rice than asia, sorry guys). STFU stupidass."

note: the above is still more grammatically correct than your wanna-be, e-gangster, icey-hot-stunaz asshat.

um, this is getting off topic, cambo.

another thing is that I've been to Virginia just about every year for weeks at a time and I see a hell of a lot more ricers there than I do here ... don't talk **** on california unless you come here often or live here

I'm not sticking up for civic4dizor, but I don't like it when people assume they know things that aren't true

i have an Ebay knock off intake. It fits pretty well, was only 35 bucks shipped, and sounds decent. The only thing i would get would be a new filter. Why pay 200 bucks for something that barely does anything. The ebay looks a whole lot better than stock and sounds a whole lot better. I would reccomend it if you want an intake for a budget price.

I currently own an Ebay intake, but had the K&N FIPKII, that K&N fit amazingly well, was made of PLASTIC, added a great sound, and made a noticeable improvement in power. The ebay intake improved upon stock but dropped all quality associated with the FIPK.
