Rep Power: 0 cams custom grind ?
OK I have heard alot about cams custom grindings I have heard that it can increase hp up to 20% depending on the grind they are using. I have found a few places that do this but nothing for a 01 civic. And I am not sure how you can get 20% more hp out of a stock cam by just grinding it. Does any one know if this is true and where is a shop that has gridings for our cars....

Rep Power: 295 No they don't have one specifically for the D17 but I think this is what you want
Part Number 65021
VTEC (SOHC) - Custom ground. Specs available only after seeing your factory core.
Or if you want to make sure call them at 619-422-1191

just the cam or did you get thier package thing? I am curious because there has been so many Gude sucks post on here but very few people that have actually used them. If so how do you like it? cost? HP gains, 1/4 mile times, or just your plain opinion. How many niles with it installed. any info would be appreciated.

Rep Power: 0 i got just the CAM. I didn't want the whole package, as i didn't know anyone i trusted who had it.
When i talked to Bill Gude about the cars that got messed up, he mentioned it was the shop that did the install that was at fault. My shop (DSR) confirmed this was possible.
They have had numerous cars w/ Gude cams installed & good results on the dyno. So i got the Gude cam. The cam install itself requires a CAM gear to tune it (as the regrind will alter TDC) & the valves need to be adjusted also. As i don't have a CAM gear, i don't have the full potential of the cam. I'm also lucky my car runs OK).
It costs $ 300 or so (don't quote me; i don't remember, it's been a while) you can call for a quote.
When i collect a $1000, i'll have some more head work done & a dyno session to tune my car . Don't hold your breath, though, as it'll be a while. (Unless y' all wanna donate!!)
EDIT:
Gude claims 18 bhp to the wheels & i'd say he's not far off, though i can't back it w/ o a dyno.
You could use a cam w/ a turbo for better results. Just make sure you get it done at the same time & the person knows you have a FI moter, as the grind can be more aggressive for better results.

Rep Power: 359 i wouldn't mind dropping my car off to them for a day and doing a regrind and getting it at the end, i wonder if they do that or if they only do it by mail? this sounds like a good mod and well worth the money
