I'm be interested in joininng the group buy for the Volant CAI. Any word from them yet? I emailed the company for the specs and the dyno tests, and will post it here is I get a reply from them.

$249.00 isn't that bad if you compare it to an AEM V2 CAI, just my opinion.

Just curious, with the box system, will that eliminate the problem of water getting into the engine?

Thanks,

Alex

Its going to be just like your stock air box, if you gonna be dumb enough to drive in That deep of water then yea even stock you will hydrolock...Also the cold air duct runs straight down...so itd be very hard for splashed water to run up it.

I would go for the Volant CAI, but how low does the air induction sit? Is there any reason why i should not get the injen short ram intake. 2003 Civic Ex 5-spd, besides the overheating?

Um with or without the intake im sure they made the surrouding wires good enough to withstand the heat.

I decided not to wait for the volant cai as i can see they are taking their sweet time. So i went with a short ram intake with a weapon r ram air kit...I love the results! and i haven't gotten my super inlet SRI yet. Im using a generic sri now.

well it depends on what you want more of. bottom end or top end. top end you need a cai aem or injen. many people like the sound of the injen as do i and i believe it would provide a slight advantage over the aem due to filter location. i had the aem but it broke. i loved it. bottom end your gonna need a sri. as far as sound do you want it loud or louder. i think injen is the loudest and sounds the best. aem very close second. i don't know to much about the volant or racer design. they look cheap to me. not saying they are bad because i don't know just an observation. the k&n is supposed to be a real good sri.

go to www.weapon-r.com and they have an intake battle, its a comparison of intakes on some car...but its interesting to look at. I think the weapon R is the best performing SRI and the AEM v1 is the best performing CAI
