Depends on the quality of the hood.
You should check for the weave (tighter the better---no pun intended), the sides and edges of the hood (are they smooth?), what it looks like underneath, look at the latch (any sort of weird corrosion going on? some hoods do come all fugged up), and umm...that's about it...and check for the amount of thickness...

yeah just picked it up! it looks sweet! all edges are smooth, no corrosion, everything is flushed, no waves, looks dope!

for a good carbon fiber hood for a 01 civic you are looking at like $615 anything less youll probably have problems with it only carbon fiber hood you should buy would be one from fiber images best carbon fiber hoods made fit perfectly and don't require pins

my new hood fit perfect, really snug and flush with the fenders, no hood pins required, but im still getting them, i like the look! i actually got hooked up with hood for $300 fom my boyz, they originally sell them for 550!
