SD Import Design
Whats up- for the peeps who want to be down in Socal but aren't in Sandy Eggo and want to join, I suggest you start under similar guidelines and be a different division of the same club- i.e. OC Import Design, LA Import Design, etc. Were going to get this club going and I think that there should be some guidelines as to who can be let in. Nothing too ****-ish like mandatory fees but we need something so not every Buck and Harry can just throw a sticker on his car and be down. I feel that Immortal, Shinygreensuit and myself have been putting thought and effort into this for a bit and starting it up so we can be considered the "founding members", but I don't really want a President or anything. So how's this combo of minimal things to be in (please add anything you feel would be a good guideline)which are the better of these:
-Must be Import or/ Must be Honda
-Must have 2 mods/ 3mods (
-Must go to meets 1x/ 2x a month (we'll have 2 a month)
-Must display sticker
-Must go to bigger meets together
-Failure to follow guidelines will result in dismemberment (not literally)
and must remove sticker or it will be removed for you via rock-through-windshield (j/k but I know clubs that do that)
I think it should be: Honda, 3 mods, 2 meets a must.
Please feel free to add anything and give thoughts-

Well, I think that some of those work better than others.
1) I like limiting it to Honda's(and other imports if they are good. )
2) We should come up with good ways to have logos displayed. Many people are afraid of stickering their car, so we need to be creative in this category.
3) As for mods, I think it is a bad idea to limit by mods. Many people dont have the money, and as a fledgling club, we dont want to eliminate potential members. Besides, one of the good things about a club like this, is that we can get together to help each other do new mods on our cars. So someone could come in to the club with a stock machine, and soon have "super-rice", courtesy of the group
4) As for a website, sdimportdesign.com is available, as well as importdesign.net. If we get importdesign.net, then we can do sub domains for the various clubs, like (http://sd.importdesign.net, http://la.importdesign.net), etc.

Count me in if DIY mods and ICE mods count, let me know what you think of my car

Aight.......
Limiting to Imports/Honda's - Cool (Hence the name).
Mods - ??
I only got 2.... Can we work out something on this??
Meets - Defnitely. We should make them kinda like the Irvine meet but we should go do something for these meets. Standing around looking at the same cars every couple weeks might make some not come to every meet. We should have these to where we meet up somewhere for a bit and do things like a cruise day, bon fires, or whatever but to where we are out & about getting to know one another.
NO HATING: Starting **** with other people in crews you may know or run into. With 2k1's being in it, we are slow & would hope that none go spouting off like you have a turbo'd B18C. We are here to make modifications our cars, make em look good & make them fastER (if we ever can).We will get clowned & whatever, but if that bothers someone that much, maybe they should reconsider joining. Be cool & do your best to make friends out there when involved in situations with other crews or people in general. If you cant & kick someones ***... cool too, but dont bring drama on the rest of the group for it.
I would like to make it a point to check out the import shows and more Irvine type meets. If there are a few that wish to attend shows, cool, I will be doing my best to check out every one that I can. But for the OC meets we have been having, I would request everyone be there.
Logo's: Stickers will work for me. I will be looking into this tomorrow. I know a place that might give us what we want from the discussion I had with Dark up in OC. I will also throw a couple out from photoshop as well. If you dont want to put stickers on your car, figure a way to reprezent.
Contact Info: We should get everyones e mail addresses and possibly a phone number whether its home or cell so we dont have to post everything on the net or worry about someone gettng an e mail on time.
Recruiting: I think that there should be a majority rule on people that wish to be a part of or are willing to be a part of. I believe that would be fair. Majority of what I would look for is the car, possibilities & ideas for the car, and the person. I personally would not want a Tweeker with a Datsun B210 that is all tweekered out with a camoflauge paint job and ge has ideas of making it the ultimate dumpster diving machine. I think that person should hang out on a few meets before they make a desicion so that they know what they are getting into & whether they are willing to go to meets often, constantly throw ideas out & modding their car..
GIRLS ARE DEFINITELY WELCOME!
Let me know what you think. The sooner we can get these things ironed out, the better.
BTW: Me & My girl are going tomorrow to have our baby so I may not be on the board for the next day or so. I will check back often on this & if you wish, send me an e mail @ whyarentu1@home.com with your contact info.
ShinyGreenSuit - Got an E Mail Address?? E mail me at the address I listed above so we can get this contact info out of the way.
BABYLX - Sorry about sunday. I had to get a realative from the airport at the last minute. I didnt check the board till way late so I didnt get your message. As I stated above, my little girl will be making her arrival here in the next day or so, so I dont know about next sunday. Also sorry for spacing off getting your info in OC. I was so damn tired I just wanted to get out of there & I didnt think about it till I was 1/2 way home. I am sure we will hook up for the races sometime soon.
Inspired - Your page has some password lock on it or something. When I click the link, it pops up with a User Name/Password window.
I remember seeing your car up there at the meet, if you got some good pics, e mail them to me.
I would like to check them out.

I would like to check them out. That's cool, I know how it can get sometimes when you go to work at night and then stay up all day after an eight hour shift, and there will be more races. I was also talking to some of our OC friends and they have a couple of ideas they want to throw out on the table too, I don't know if any of them have got in contact or not, but I'll try and email.

I think that we should keep a "mod minimuim", but such things as stereo upgrades, and DIY can count as mods. That way, as a group we can help out and give advice for those who have no mods. Once they have 2 mods, there in. The only reason I like the idea of having mods is just so were not a bunch of stock boxes rolling around with stickers on the window. As for the sticker issue
Shiny- someone mentioned on this board before about getting emblems made, such as a small one to put on your door like some clubs have. I have no idea as to how go about finding someone who can make these, but I can make up some designs and post them. (I knew that art degree would be good for something) I like SDIMPORTDESIGN as a domain name, we can collect dues in order to pay for it. How do those of you outside of SD feel about either keeping the same name as us or just slightly changing it to OC Imprt Design? Let me know.
Immortal- I like the idea of hangin out and having something to do besides stand around and look at each others cars. We'll defienetly think of some cool shiznit to do. And you have 2 mods so don't sweat it. Good luck with your baby!
Inspired/Jdock- would you guys be willing to come down to SD for meets? Again this falls under wheter your going to join SD Import Design or start up another chapter where you are.
Give me more imput- I'm glad were getting a good response for this so far. Let's keep it up.

Was hopin some people would start up an OC Chapter... right now I just got two cheap DIY's but they aren't really performance wise, just looks heh. I'm plannin on heavily modding my car from the inside out tho. And I'm waitin for some nicer kits to come out, I kinda like the BW style one I saw in the Parts section of this site, but I'm sure there will be better ones out soon. I wouldn't mind havin a road trip down the SD every now and then, but I don't know about like every month hehe. Later when I move out of my parents home and am paying for my own rent, I wouldn't mind though. Right now, all I can afford are my car payments :\ Tryin to get a job at Autozone too. (Already work at Knott's and Army Reserve)
I'll have to come up with something other than stickers, because to be honest, I'm not so keen on stickering my car. I'm going to be the old conservative of the group. I agree in the thought that having a Civic club means appreciation of our cars, as well as fun activities.
sdimportdesign.com works. What kind of dues did you have in mind? And other than the website, what sorts of things will these dues be paying for?
Hey Lightman, very nice on the Flash. The boys and I will come up with what we'd like for a site and maybe we'll be able to use you for some stuff. Thanks for volunteering!

ShinyGreenSUit - Got your E Mail - "You have Mail!" Anyway, what is all in hosting the domain. I registered a domain a couple years ago & it cost $70 for 2 years without the server & all that. I got a friend that possibly might be able to help with that, but I am not going to count on it. I know there is $$ for server space as well. Anyone know what we are looking @ in that department??? I am willing to chip in what I can for this.
Also, we should look @ SoCalImportDesign.com for a website then from the site have the different chapters within the site. My $.02. If not, then cool... I am not picky.
Light - Nice flash work. I got all these macromedia programs & have no idea how to use them.... Oh well, I didnt pay for them...
BabyLX - Have those OC guys post up their ideas, maybe they can get the OC one going or whatever...
Check out what I threw together for a background on my PC last night.. Took 2 minutes....
Also - Tenetive first meet date?!
Where is everyone?!?!?!

Nice flash work- Immortal that little logo was cool too. I think we should only have due's when the need arises, such as the domain name. We'll split it up equally throughout the number of members. I'm not particularly wanting a huge winshield sticker, maybe just a small one for the side window. Defienetly decide once we have set a design. I'll post some ideas this weekend. If everyone has a free day over the holiday maybe we can have a first meet. I have Thru, Fri, Sat Sun off so any time is cool for me, or any other weekend.
Any day after 3pm will work for me, with the exception of Thanksgiving, just let me know. I'll try and get in contact with some of the OC guys too, to see what's going on up there and if we can't work something out.
I still like using sdimportdesign.com (we can get importdesign.net for the "Master Club", then branch from there). The domains are $35 per year. As for hosting....well.... we have lots of options. The "best option" would be for me to convince one of the server admins I know to let me use their servers. But given that the chances are slim of that, it can run anywhere from little to $225 a year or so. I am good from Friday on.
Hey,
I am redoing me site so it is down right now, I will let you know as soon as it is back up and running. I am fine with going to SD for meets and will help in starting an OC Chapter. You can see a pic on the members rides page if you like. If you have any questions for me reply or e-mail me at inspired2k1@msn.com - jdock you up for starting an OC chapter??

Yeh, I'm up for it. I just got my third job for that little "extra" money to do mods to my car. and I'll still have time during the night to go out! w00t. I still need a new dome light lens

Pretty cool..is there an LA chapter? on one of the posts it says 2 meets/month...would that be within our own chapters??? i've got everything else down...but i dont wanna be the only one in the LA chapter hahahha...someone else start it with me =P
You know I had a thought. Since we are spending a lot of time trying to sort out SoCal vs. SD vs. OC, etc.... Why don't we just call the club, "Import Design"? Then there can be chapters around, but the logos and such can remain the same?

Import Design is cool, but I like the regional titles to represent our area. If the main club is Import Design, that's cool, but I'm really in favor of the chapter titles. For those of you North of SD, you can make a OC and a LA chapter, of try to come to a compromise.
Hey, as long as no rivalry between the different regions spring up, then I'm all for it.
Cause you know how some people are... I don't think that the club might be only limited to those in these forums, cause we are all pretty cool with eachother.. right?
Here's an Idea,
we make a design for Import Designs and each chapter can add there own thing in front of itso like SD can put an SD in front of the Import Design, that way we all have the same design but still have a custom part of it for each chapter. What do you think??
Also as far as meets, I think every month we should have one big meet with all the chapters and one smapp meet within each chapter minimum.

Buy the domain from dotster.com. I have about 5 from there. It's only 15 bucks and they have a good page that makes it easy to change dns server addresses. As far has hosting, I know where to get dns entries for free and i can set that up no problem. Plus, if anyone doesn't mind leaving their computer on forever and has a good connection to the internet i will install apache web server on a Linux or nt machine and we can host the page from there. If you want someone else to host, that's cool with me also.
I have a thing with EasyDNS where I host all the DNS stuff. Of all the companies I've ever used, they have been the best. When it comes to hosting, I'd prefer to not run it off of someone's computer. It's not a very stable environment, and not fair to ask someone to leave their stuff on. Going with an actual Hosting server is a much better solution. I'm still looking into that for us.
