Noobie Mech needing HELP with swap.
I have a stock 1992 Civic dx. It has a d15b7 with an auto tranny. I am going to swap it with a d15b vtec-e engine I stole for 500 bucks, it has a 5 speed on it though. Here are a few questions: Do I need a different wiring harness/cluster? Do I need to get different axles? Do I need both motor and tranny mounts replaced? What kind of ECU do I need and does that need different wires? I have never done a swap, so any advice would be helpful.
Re: Noobie Mech needing HELP with swap.
if the new motor is same year/ obd all you should need is the new ecu for that motor and i think the motor mounts will work you will probably need new axles and a shift linkage depending on what car the new motor came out of
Re: Noobie Mech needing HELP with swap.
It is a D15 block so the motor mounts are the same. The tranny mount may need a different style, going from Auto to Manual(Not sure though). As For the Axles... Most likley, I didnt notice a difference in mine, compared to my GF's. Then again, By the time I was putting them back on, I was in a hurry.
If you dont get the wiring harness for under the hood, You may need a wiring cluster for the Vtec Distributor. Rather than that, I couldnt think of anything really. Their the same engine, just one has Vtec-e.
