you make ne sense man what do you want to do boost? n/a? nitrous? or do you wanna have some crazy twin charger system? if moneys not a problem id say go k series but if u want it to be the fastest civic ever!!!!! strap boeing 747 engine to the back of it. nothing says fast like a jumbo jet engine strapped to the roof of your car. yeah boi!
The fastest swap to do would be to swap your entire car. If you're going to be getting 40 grand when you turn 18 and you want to stick with Civics... get an 8th gen Civic Si and a Turbo Kit installed. You'll love it way more, trust me.

Never thought that I would be giving this advice, but you are only 18 and while 40 grand may seem like a lot of $, trust me it is not. If I were you I and you really wanted a swap, I would swap in a K20a2 and set you budget at 8k. Then take the rest of the $ and invest it in a good savings account such as ING, or maybe some low-moderate risk stocks. This will get you well on your way to paying for a college education, and if that is not an issue than it will be a nice piece of $ to start your life when you graduate college. Trust me, this is coming from someone who's annual household income is twice that. I spent my $ foolishly in college (mainly on my car), and now I am paying for it every month when I pay my $500 student loan payment. I have a house and live nicely, but it could be a ton better if I would have listened when someone gave me this same advice.

if you really want to keep the sedan, swap a B18 or something and upgrade your suspension a bit, do some tasteful exterior mods, then go to school and spend the rest on that, or invest it.
Im sorry but its impossible to have the fastest civic ever cause civics are just ridiculous. There are so much you can do so much to them. Plus no matter how fast you make your car there will ALWAYS be someone out there thats alot faster.

40 grand at 18 not bad. I say big block old school with some sort of power adder. since 40g's is not alot in the modified world i would find someone selling there mod camero or chevelle(if it was my choice) that is running 8's in the quarter and still daily drive it. Check ebay and be happy with some money still left over to add your own touches and pay for gas!!!! or maybe one hell of a first gen eclipse/talon/laser awd. the 1g you could buy stock and build yourself.
just my opinion if you could do with out it being a civic

good advice i invested 15K in a fund and some in stocks to make some mone to pay my college bill
40Grand?? put that shyt in the bank and let it collect interest! if u want a relatively fast car take about 8-9grand probably less and make a frankenstein motor k20/k24swap, u will never be able to have the fastest civic because someone will out do you in due time.
