Yo..Noob Here

Hey whats up. Thought I decide to join, Dont know much about cars, but imports have always caught my eye, have some questions regarding a 93 civic LX I just bought.

Question: Does my 93 LX have a V-Tech.. reason I am asking because its like a 20hp difference if it is not, I am not able to tell..
And I dont want to do a swap, because I bought the car with 88,100 miles on it so the engine is fairly clean, and dont have too much money to put in a turbo, and I dont want to spray..
Any suggestion will be great.

you can do basic mods mainly being the bolt ons (intake, exhaust, headers, etc.)

I think you can put a d16y8 head on it. That should boost up the HP. And you don't need VTEC to go fast, it's a common misconception that only vtec hondas are fast. But other than that go with boltons and maybe some aftermarket rims and grippy tires which should help boost go and show.

I don't think it will change it significantly, since the displacement will remain the same. Even if it does, a catback exhaust system and cold air intake will counter it and give you better gas mileage. Also, you should look into buying a good head gasket (probably from hondata). Most people dont even consider it but it can give you up to 10 extra ponies for around 50 dollars.

Yeah, or you can use a d16z6 head. Different people say either z6 or y8 is better, i suggest you research it, but with either one, you'll probably be happy with it. Besides the actual engine work you can get a race header/cold air intake/exhaust. Those will add up to 1k + dollars but you'll notice significant gains. I suggest you go Here because alot of people on their have built their d-series from the ground up. They'll be very helpful.
