Wiper switch interchange?

Wiper switch interchange?
Hello all,
I have a 87 hatch I just bought and the wiper switch works, but is broke at the base. I can hold it in position and activate the wipers. I found a nice replacement off a 1990 hatch at a wrecking yard, a 1990. Any ideas if it will work? I have Not bought the 'new" switch yet, since it's No returns if it does not work for me.
Using the search function turned up nothing.
