del Sol stalls on takeoff
del Sol stalls on takeoff
My son's 1993 del Sol, 1.5 liter injected engine, 180,000 miles, manual trans, has developed a problem where it will sometimes stall after a brief period of idling (like at a stop light). It will idle fine (around 800 RPM), but as soon as he puts it in gear and touches the gas pedal, it will immediately stall (no sputtering). Happens when the car is warmed up and seems to happen more often if the car is stopped facing uphill. It sometimes takes several attempts to re-start after this happens (fun in traffic!)
Recent (within the past 1000 miles) work done: rebuilt cylinder head, PCV valve, air filter, spark plugs, and main relay. He ran some StarTron in the last tank of gas, hoping it might be water in the fuel, but no change. The car runs fine otherwise, no Check Engine lights.
Any ideas are appreciated.

Re: del Sol stalls on takeoff
Re: del Sol stalls on takeoff - FIXED!
My mechanic installed a new distributer, and it seems to have fixed the stalling issue completely. Three weeks now without a problem.
