Hi everyone, just bought an '80 Civic and need some help figuring out a problem with the transmission. The guy I bought the car from said he disassembled the transmission with a friend to replace a bearing and when the tranny was replaced it wouldn't shift into 3rd gear. He stopped driving it after noticing the problem, so he didn't have any other info or know what was assembled wrong when it went back together. It feels like the shifter goes fully into 3rd gear's position (could be wrong, there's a lot of play in this shifter), but there just isn't anything there. As I let off the clutch there is a quiet, high pitch grinding/whining that gets louder the more clutch that is let out, but the shifter will not go any further and there is no power. There is no clunkiness shifting into 3rd gear position and all the other gears are just fine. Kinda stumped as to what to look for when I pull it apart.
