Coolant Flow Through 1.5L Head?

My Temp gauge is going wack. I've bled the system to no avail. I'm wondering if when I, or the machine shop did the head gasket I somehow plugged up the flow passages through the head and its not letting the coolant flow past the sensor

I've replaced the sensor. Anybody have a coolant flow diagram through the head to see if coolant is flowing through the head correctly. I know it comes into the head from the top radiator hose and probably past the sensor, but then where does it go? Thanks Kevin

For one i know coolant doesn't pass through the head. So id recommend checking your thermostat first!

Sorry dude, but the coolant definitely passes through the head. The coolant hose from the top of the radiator connects directly into the head. Also I've had the head off and there are water passages all over.

Since posting this I've checked out a head at the junk yard and can follow the flow. It goes straight into the head from the top of the radiator and then past the two sensors that I spoke of in my previous post.

I was wondering somehow if when I had the head reworked or when I replaced the head gasket I plugged up one of these passages and coolant wasn't getting past the sensor causing it to read high.

I've now ruled that out because I can see coolant begin to flow through the radiator at about 185 degrees indicating the T-stat is opening and the head coolant passages are free. If either of these were not true, the coolant wouldn't be flowing. The head is the return path for the coolant when the T-stat is open.

Thanks kevin

PS: I did the T-stat check you linked a long time ago to rule it out. Thanks Again. Kevin
