Cool New 95 Civic Owner

Hey guys i just bought a 95 civic yesterday. Having never owned a honda or import of any kind, I was wondering if theres anything i need to check or look over. The car is a 95 DX 1.5l 5spd with 273,000 miles . Seems like a lot of miles but the car is actually in very good shape and runs well. I just bought 2 temp sending units because the gauge nor the fan works. (fan works if you jumper it out). But anyways I was just looking for some tips or tricks to theese things. Any information will be helpful. Look forward to joining the discusions and being a new proud owner of a civic.

Thanks Josh

Re: New 95 Civic Owner

Congratulations on your new ride! As for things to check all I can think of is to confirm you're up to date on the typical stuff. (Timing belt / water pump every 90k; fuel filter / dizzy cap / rotor / (wires?) every 60k, coolant every 45k, spark plugs / air filter every 30k, oil / oil filter every 7k. And if you don't know when the timing belt was done last replace it now.) As for tips & tricks, just be aware that after-market ignition system parts often don't work right in Hondas, so you might want to stick to OEM there. There are a few discount honda parts websites if you don't want to buy from a dealer: hondapartsdirect, hondapartscheap and maybe others. Good luck with the new temperature sensors!
