If for any reason the radio looses power from the battery, it activates an anti-theft device. You need to type in a code using the pre-set buttons, if you don't have the code get the serial number off the bottom of your radio and call a dealership.
Re: 94 civic radio error?
just tried to clean up the old battery terminals.. so if your battery dies and you jump your car or something this happens again? now i have to pull out the stereo to get the serial number off the bottom.. i have a cd player to install so i think i might just install that rather than go through the trouble....

Yup, anytime the radio loses power for any reason it will activate the anti-theft system.
Dead battery, detach a terminal, unplug the radio.. Once you get the code and its written down its not really a big deal, but its definitely annoying if you don't have the code.
