Rep Power: 0 Am I too fat for a Honda Civic?
Alright, so I've had my eyes set on a Honda Civic.
Actually have one I can pick up right now that seems perfect.
1998 Honda Civic Dx Hatchback.
One problem, I randomly though.
Well this car is tiny, and I'm big.
Any problem?
I'm around 330lbs.. yes.. that big.
My body is evenly done out, I'm 6ft tall.
Will this be a problem for the civic I just listed?
Will it be uncomfortable? Never actually sat in it yet just my parents have been looking at it as I am just getting my license and they offered to buy a car under 3 grand..
What do you guys think?
Thanks!
Appreciate quick replys!

Unfortunately there is a reason why I didn't.
I'm a completely new driver, I don't even have my learners permit yet.. getting it tomorrow morning.
Even then I don't want to test drive it because I have little driving experience.
I'm just looking from personal experience or something..
Thanks anyway.

Well... Have you sat in the drivers seat?
I'm a big guy (6 foot 6) and on the heavier side (about same as you), and I fit fine in my Civic. I've got to lean back the seat a bit because if I sit it up completely straight, my head wedges up against the roof, but I think that's normal because in the first position that the seat clicks into, it is like straight up and down and uncomfortable.
But 330lbs at only 6 foot you're probably kinda wide and rotund so I dunno if you'd fit between the door and the center console comfortably. I'm tall so I fit fine in that respect.

Thanks guys.. going to go see this car again tonight.
Bringing $2500 cash (hes asking 2600 + taxes) and I'm going to make sure I sit in it first to see if it's comfortable and what not.

you can always get a wide model racing seat. it sits quite a bit lower than stock for more head clearance, and it fits upto a 40 inch waist usually. other than that, try p90x lol.

You should see me in the back seat... it is funny.
I have to tip the seat back in my friends 08 SI coupe too... the Sunroof destroys the headroom factor.

Yeah, like I said.
Going there tonight, going to sit in the drivers seat a bit and if it's too small.. looks like no civic for me. :P

I'm 6'4 185 lbs not really fat i dont think at least, but i dont have any problems in my 03 coupe, and i cant imagine it being much different for you. i think the only real problem i can think of would be height but im pretty sure youre fine. by the way go for it my mom got me an 03 ex for my first car a couple months ago and i love it, i know its not really fast but its fun being able to do stuff to it and not have to get raped by expensive stuff like other cars that dont have a lot of aftermarket stuff

Don't remember the older model seats, but at 6'1" 175, I can guarantee that the new seats are made to accommodate people much larger than myself.

Re: Am I too fat for a Honda Civic?
I'm 5'10" and 246 lbs and fit in my 1990 Civic HB just fine. The older Civics (like mine) are much smaller, both inside and outside than the newer ones. The car will be fine. Just watch the hinges at the base of the driver's seat. If you lean way back getting in & out you may pop one (usually the outer one).

I desperately want to know this as well.. my mother is 310 -315lbs and first time I saw her lean into my little ole 2000 dark green Civic I literally sent a prayer to GOD himself.
Im 5'7" 175 or 180, depends on the meal however, witnessing my car triumph during tribulation does bring me great joy 😂
And I wonder as well..

6'3" and 285, It is a little funny getting in and out of my 95 CX. Some people are waiting for a "POP"
Once in, though, I fit fine and drive it on very long trips (2500-3000miles in a few days). It is quite comfortable once I am in it.
