Canadian Civic Owners Beware!
Apparently the Civic is a hot target for criminals in Canada, and the authorities are warning Civic owners to lock up their cars. This always seems to happen with the most popular cars.

Here is the story:
Port Moody police are closing in on car thieves who have been targeting Honda Civics in the last week.
Beginning Feb. 16, when the seats were stolen from a 2005 Civic parked in the 2900-block of St. Johns Street, there were five incidents involving the cars.
Shortly after 10 a.m. Feb. 19, a 1992 Civic warming up in a driveway in the 2700-block of Jane Street was stolen. At 8 p.m. that day, police recovered a 1997 Civic stolen from Burnaby in the 600-block of Mary Street.
Just a couple hours later, again in the 2700-block of Jane Street, police recovered a 1993 Civic stolen from Coquitlam. A 1995 model, also stolen from Coquitlam, was recovered in the early morning on Feb. 20 in the 2900-block of Jane Street.
“Somebody in the area does like Honda Civics,” said Const. Phil Reid. “And we’re closing in on the trail.”
Police have lifted fingerprints from several of the vehicles but it’s not yet known if there are any matches between the stolen cars. Reid noted the thief is likely using the car to get from one place to another and may be parking them just a block or two away from home.
Honda Civics are number two on ICBC’s list of the top 25 cars stolen in B.C. in 2004. Model years at highest risk are 1993, 1995, 1992, 1998 and 2000.
Police are warning Honda Civic owners to be vigilant in protecting their vehicles by buying and using an anti-theft device.
They’re also asking anyone with information about the thefts to call the Port Moody police at 604-461-3456 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS.

The Civic is released worldwide. Its a very popular car in many countries.
I can see why they would be stolen regularly, as the parts are quite valuable.
Damn that sucks. From what ive heard the older civic models only had so many key variations, and when you factor in worn locks/starting mechanisms it wouldnt be to hard to get in to one. When i had my old saturn i could open it with a ford truck key haha
