Hooking up LEDs. Where is the door trigger wire

hi so i have a 2000 DX hatchback manual civic. i have led strips that i want to put under the seats and dash that go on and off with the dome light. i have done a bunch of research and most say that the "light green with red stripe" wire is in the kick panel by my kick panel doesn't have anything in there. im just wondering where that wire is??

Re: Hooking up LEDs. Where is the door trigger wire

Look in the door jamb and you'll see a little "button" (NC push button switch) that is depressed when the door is shut. You have a couple options: 1) pull the door panel, find out what color those wires are and trace it back to the door hinge wire bundle, 2) tap it at the switch and run wires with the bundle of wires at the hinge, or 3) find a wiring diagram. The first 2 options are pretty straightforward and is what I'd prolly do. Option 3 will require you to know the actual nomenclature for that particular portion of the circuit to identify the wire.

Because I'm lazy and don't feel like editing a post using my iPotato..

In case you or someone following this thread wondering, NC just means the switch is "normally closed". When the door shuts, it pushes and this opens said switch. I just realized that some people out they may not be electrically savvy with abbreviations.

that go on and off with the dome light.
Why not just run a new wire from the dome light itself? Or maybe catch the dome light wiring harness in the A pillar and tap it there.
