del sol with a b20b t4 turbo - advice/help?
I apologize for the lack of information, I honestly know very very little about turboed engines. Just try to work with me
Traded my 01 civic for a 1993 civic del sol with a b20b turboed motor.
Keep in mind the B20B DOHC NONVTEC is a CR-V motor paired with a y80trans
The engine has no exhaust, it goes turbo then the start of a downpipe and cuts off right there. I am unsure where to begin with that, I cannot find downpipes that use the V-flang most of them just bolt on.
The engine will also die down to near-stall after driving for a bit then coming to a complete stop IE red light. RPMs drop and car struggles to stay alive.
I just ordered a new speed sensor, does it have something to do with having a faulty vss right now?
Does the lack of exhaust have any effect?
The kid I got the car from said he took out the thermostat because with one the engine would run really hot so he took it out and says it is better to leave it out because having one in could burn the head gasket. I'm just concerned because I like to see the temperature of my engine.. how true is his statements?
Also I have a lot of empty plugs and tubes that lead to no where - should I be concerned?
The guy tells me he uses 10w-40 nonsynthetic oil. I pulled out the dipstick and the oil is sooo black almost like sludge. He said "synthetic is too thin".
What is some inexpensive maintenance I can do to the engine/turbo I.E. Clean hoses/lines
What are some advised things to do with this motor, I plan to keep the motor how it is without replacing anything major like a diff head. I would be interested in possibly replacing the turbine but i dont know a single thing about tuning.
Ask away!
I am going to post helpful pictures so make requests if you want
