Ok have been doing a little research on here and and found out that the dome light is attached threw factory radio, well that has been replaced before I bought it, so I took out the radio that is in there now, there are two wires that are not being used, I think one was blue and the other orange, does anybody know what color the wire might be that would operate that dome lights?? Now there is a Honda CD player that is in the car but does not work which is located down at the bottom of the dash near shifter but it does not work, might the wire be behind that cd player instead of where the factory radio would have been in this car? its a 96 civic lx the dome light does work manually just not with doors

have you checked the door trigger switches? the small nipple things where the door meets the car frame when closing.

Yes all 4 of the switches seem to work fine, and all the wires seem to be attatched and they look fine

Check your fuses, a lot of times that is the problem.

so if I strip both the wires, and then use another wire to connect the two together that should fix the problem of the dome lite not working with doors correct??? cause looking at the pics that are on that post it shows the two wires stripped but I can not see how they connected them, thank you so much to who ever loaded that post with pics, that is a monster help for sure and thank you for posting them on my posts what and awesome guy

well I connected the two wires with another wire and guess what IT WORKED ;-) thank you so so so so so so much ;-) I wondered while doing it if I could have just cut both wires and connected them that way but I didn't I just used another wire and it worked, thank you so much for saving me the money of sending it back to the garage ;-)

Im having the same problem with my 92 Prelude. There is a red/back wire behind my stereo that isnt connected to anything and the wiring diagram for my car says its "interior illum input". So Im guessing thats for the dome light. What do I do with that wire? Also I dont have factory alarm or keyless entry. I also found a small wiring harness with only two cables that looks like it used to plug into my old stereo. Any ideas on how I can get my dome light to work when I open my doors? (p.s. the dome light works when i switch it to the 'on' position)
