98 civic speedometer

i'm havig trouble w.my speedometer. I took my car on a long trip for the first time since i bought it and when I arrived to my destination my speedometer decided not to work any more. so I had to memorize the speed Im going by my rpm's. I heard this was a common prob w.hondas. Just wondering if anyone has the same problem. my dad told me it might just be wiring, but he hasn't had the time to check it. thanks for reading im open to any responces. i guess no one wants to help a girl out but thanks n e way
