ej6 hatchback wheel fitment!!

Ok so I just got a 96 ej6 hatchback and I was wondering how wide I could go and with what offset without any major stretching and more importantly no rubbing. Right now its sitting on 15x7 et42 or et40. I was thinking keeping 15s or going on to 16s. Its at stock height for now but ima slap some form and function type 1 coilovers within a week or two. I want to have a 2 finger gap maybe 2.5. Thanks in advance

Re: ej6 hatchback wheel fitment!!

You can probably run 8", maybe 8.5" width if you wanted to (or rather, could find them). Most people with civics max out at a 215 treadwidth (from what I've seen, at least), and those come out to 8.48" wide. Especially with a 2-finger gap, you should fare just fine. I'm running 215/45-17s on my 02, and I have about a 1.5 finger gap, and I do just fine with those. I get a little bit of rubbing on the fenderwell lining from the inner shoulder of the tire, but that's only when I'm turned all the way to the steering wheel lock(s). Even then, the evidence of rubbing is minimal.

A quick google search on rim width vs treadwidth, yokohama's website have tire sizes with appropriate rim widths. Basically everything with a 215 treadwidth warrants anything from a 7-8.5" rim width.

i got lucky with my setup. 16x7.5 with a 38mm offset wrapped with 195/50 R16. got really close to the front swivel arm. Sport Edition SE16 from tirerack's clearance/closeout list.
