Do I need to replace brake line if it got stretched?
Do I need to replace brake line if it got stretched?
Hey everyone! just bought a 1998 civic lx. it needed new brakes. I removed the caliper bolt and rotated the caliper up, just as I have on all the cars I've had in the past. Well none of my cars in the past have had a bracket that needs to be removed before rotating the caliper up, so I messed up there and didn't notice it until it was too late that the brake hose was being stretched some and also was being bent upwards and pinched a little bit against the crimped end of the metal bracket where the hose comes out .
I drove it down the street and everything seems ok. Am I fine if it's not leaking or is it likely to burst on me at any time? I don't mind spending the money buying the hose, just with my luck I know a simple hose replacement will end up with rusted fittings snapping on me and creating a bigger headache lol, but if it's unsafe to drive I'll go ahead and replace it. thanks for any help
