What am I doing wrong? I have tightened down the new idler pulley and it now rest against the bracket and will not spin. The washers, spacers, and nut are in the correct position. Help!

If you think a good mechanic is expensive, try hiring a bad one

You got something assembled wrong. Take it apart again and figure it out.

Trust me, I’ve tried every combination. It is always hitting that bracket every time I’ve tightened the bolt.

Re: A/C idler pulley problem

The old one fit but the new one doesn't. What does that tell you?

How was the original pulley assembled on there?
How does that compare to the new one?

What's different?

What's not right?

Why not?
