Failing Fuel Pump?

Long time observer first time poster, be gentle. So I think I might have a bad fuel pump the car seems to lose power during acceleration once it is warms/when it is hot out. I think it's the fuel pump. My previous car was an LX which is supposed to have about 104 horsepower, while the EX should have 124ish HP, but my civic EX feels whimpier than the LX, I've changed the spark plugs, the fuel filter (which was dirty) changed the air filter, changed the VTEC solenoid filter, adjusted the timing (which had been waaay off), checked for intake leaks, but the problem persists, I know I could buy a voltmeter and check the fuel pumps voltage, but the problem doesn't always seem to be there. Am I wrong to assume at this point that it's my fuel pump? the car also has 140k miles on it and I doubt the previous owner had the insight to ever change the fuel pump. I guess I just want affirmation before I order the part, I mean I can afford it & yeah, Any thoughts? Is it a reasonable assumption to think it's the fuel pump? pardon the poorly written post it's late and I finally buckled and decided to have the community weigh in.

Is it a reasonable assumption to think it's the fuel pump?
NO. You are absolutely WRONG to assume.

Hondas are not Chevies. Fuel pumps are not routine service here.

adjusted the timing (which had been waaay off)
What part(s) did you move to adjust timing??

I know I could buy a voltmeter and check the fuel pumps voltage,
What good would that do?
You could learn a lot more about fuel pressure with a fuel pressure gauge.....or using the voltmeter to monitor the O2 sensor output to see if it's starving for fuel whenever it runs bad.

Test, don't guess. If one thinks a fuel pump is bad, it can be tested and proven.

Got a scanner? Got fault codes? Got live engine data?
Fuel filter? Cam timing?

Re: Failing Fuel Pump?

I would now suspect the fuel pressure regulator / fuel injectors / remove / clean / replace injector filters / seals / and he is right / measure fuel pressure / psi w/ WO vacuum / get code reader / read codes / IM / Live Data from O2 sensors...could even be an intermittent vacuum leak / code reader can tell you these things / I just spent $130 on a brand new Foxwell NT630 for a similar problem...the mysterious P0505 code issue / replaced IAC motor new / replaced TPS new / MAP sensor new / Purge Solenoid new / Thermostat new / spark plugs new / wires new / fuel filter new / check timings OK / but it fluctuates under load / cold / hot / I saw it jump last night from 12° btdc to 16° which means its trying to compensate for poor fuel / air distribution...again I'm going to suspect a fuel pressure / fuel injectors issue. The Foxwell will open your eyes and is worth every frickin penny it costs...bigfoot @ HondaHell
