stalling
stalling
Hi, I have a 98 civic ex. Occasionally at high speeds the rpms would go up and check engine light flash for a second, usually it would do this without the check engine light coming on. And it randomly stalls, usually at low speed. sometimes it starts up again, sometimes turns over and won't start, will start in 10 minutes or so. I paid Honda dealer 100.00 to diagnose, they said alternator was dropping occasionally, replaced it. The car doesn't do the rpms thing anymore, but is still randomly stalling. My once dependable car is not so dependable anymore. Any suggestions?

Re: stalling
I'd say to start with.... figure out what it loses when it dies. Ignition? Fuel?
When it dies, does the dash appear as though someone reached over and shut the key off? (no lights whatsoever)
