1999 Not Started-Tried Everything!
1999 Not Started-Tried Everything!
Hi all...I have a 1999 Civic DX 4 door with a 1.6 engine.
I bought the car as a cheap, fixer upper and I have basically replaced everything in the engine compartment.
Several weeks ago, I was driving, and everything was fine. Shut the car off, and it refused to start again. I have checked all of the fuses, the FI-PGM relay, spark and fuel injectors.
The injectors weren't spraying fuel during cranking. But when I stopped cranking the engine, I would get a small burst of fuel. Basically, I have checked, or replaced everything I could think of to correct the problem.
The engine cranks and cranks but does not start. While I was probing the FI-PGM, the light is strong and bright during the fuel pump cycle, but much dimmer during cranking on the injector. (It did start once while I was probing, but did not repeat itself).
Finally, after checking everything, I acquired a used (but appeared new) ECU. I plugged it in and the car fired right up. Good idle, good throttle response. I shut the car off, and it wouldn't start again.
Does anyone have any help for me? Thanks in advance!

Ground wire bundle at the thermostat housing, got good clean ground?
Measured voltage drop on this ground bundle during cranking?
Can you explain what you were doing here, and tell what the measured battery voltage was during cranking?

but much dimmer during cranking on the injector.
