Ckp Sensor question
Ckp Sensor question
Just did a timing belt change on 00 civic ex and I noticed on the torque specs for my engine say Crankshaft position sensor needs to be 104ft/lbs. This was suprising as it is a small bolt, but I now realize how important it is for the sensor to stay in place. Problem is I did not torque this bolt, I just tightened it. Should I be worry that eventually vibration will cause the sensor to loosen and cause a lot of damage? I can only image what would happen if it got hit by my timing belt gear. I guess I could probably tell right away if that happened and I could just get a new sensor, but sounds expensive and I read that if it just goes bad it can cause internal engine damage. Any input appreciated thanks.

Re: Ckp Sensor question
That's 104 INCH pounds. Not foot pounds. That's equal to about 8.6 foot pounds.
It's a teensy little 6mm bolt, 104 foot pounds should send up red flags if one has mechanical sense. You would be figuring out how to extract the broken nub if you followed those instructions.
