Hello, I have my daughters dx that we bought a month ago and it ran when we bought it. It sat for a few weeks then was being driven regularly for a few days. It then started the no start game. Had it towed to a mechanic and he looked at it and cleaned the iac. He handed it over to us running but my daughter complaining that she had to give it gas to start and it felt like it lacked power. The next time it was attempted to start it would just turn over. Sent it to a different mechanic and he said the ac was frozen up and it was fighting against it. Received car running and and next day she went to fire it up and it just turns over. It appears the mechanics are doing nothing and when the car sits for several days it will start and run fine, then .... nothing! Its an automatic, coupe. 216,000 milesI dont have any history on it, we just bought it. I put new NGK spark plugs on it. Pulled a map sensor at junkyard and installed, no change. Any ideas?

It could be the TPS(throttle position sensor) or this issue could be fuel related.
I would check the injectors the filter, and the plugs..

Thanks go-part. Would the TPS throw a code? I'm getting a P0172. Plugs are new and I have a filter ready to be installed. I'll install that and check back.

Well, I picked up a map sensor from the junkyard and installed that plus a new fuel filter and it seems to be running fairly well! The idle is not perfect, at operating temperature it seemed a bit high. Turned off and back on and it seemed to be near ideal. No tach to check on the DX but I will have to hook up my tach feature on my Harbor Freight multimeter and check it. Will report back.

Hopefully that MAF replacement will solve your problem
