Please Help!!
I drive a 2000 Honda Civic LX, and have owned it since it was new. Tonight I was driving home doing about 40 mph or so, and my car just completely shut off. My lights in the dash that indicate what gear you are in went out. I tried to shift the gear, but nothing happened. When I saw I had apparently lost all power, I immediately put on my brakes, but it felt as if my brakes weren't really working. I did end up coming to a complete stop. I put the car in park & turned the ignition off. I then tried to restart it, and it started up perfectly & drove home. Does anyone have any idea what could have caused this? This was scary & dangerous, and I need help. Thanks.
Re: Please Help!!
Check 2 things;
1) battery terminals make sure they are tight, clean and the chassis ground is tight and clean.
2) there are 2 philips head screws that hold the main battery wires in the engine bay fuse panel make sure they are tight.
Now also when it shut off did you hit a bump? If it happens again see if you can hear a click from the right hand side behind the glove box, smack the dash with your hand in that area see if the car loses power if it does then you have a faulty main relay.
