power lock switch not working

hi guys, i just bought a 97 civic sedan a few weeks ago. the power lock switch doesn't work so all the doors have to be manually locked and unlocked. this car is for my girlfriend and 2 year old daughter so this is kind of a pain. do you think the switch itself went bad? any way to test it? anyone have a part number or know where i can get one? thanks.

Re: power lock switch not working

do you hear any noise in any of the doors when pressing the button? is it a 2-door or 4-door? its either the lock switch or it can also be the individual locking motors for each door went bad (actuators).

Re: power lock switch not working

Sounds like the master switch is bad. Do the other lock switches work? First, check for broken wires in the wire sleeve in the door hinge area. If no broken wires, then take the switch out and clean it if you can. If it still doesn't work get a new one.

Just input model, year, trim, and trans: http://www.hondapartscheap.com/southbay/jsp/home.jsp

no noise i believe. it's a 4 door. do you think it's possible a 4 actuators went bad?

is the master switch the one on the driver's door? the one on the driver's door is the only lock switch in the car. all 3 other doors have just the manual push and pull ***** on top of the door panel. can i just pop that small panel with the door release hondle to get to the switch? thanks for the link.

Re: power lock switch not working

All 4 actuators don't go dead, it's most probably a broken wire in the wire sleeve in the door hinge area (very common) but, could be the switch itself. Master switch is in the driver's door. Should be 1 screw holding it in, then the piece that the switch is in should pop off. If no screw it just pops off.

Re: power lock switch not working

well, i got a switch for it and replaced it and still nothing. checked the fuses and they are all good. i took off the door panel and noticed there is a "power lock control" behind the door panel. i have constant power coming into the control but i don't think anything coming out of the switch. could this be the problem?
