Can anyone help?

So I got a car wash and with in 10 minutes my check engine light came on. I got home and checked the codes. It kicked 3 codes P1298, P0135, P0141 any ideas on the cause and best way to go about fixing it?

Re: Can anyone help?

may have a short in your O2 sensors somewhere. You threw one for each of your sensors, then an ELD circuit high input.. I'd say reset the code, then see if it comes back. If it does, prolly means you have to replace both O2 sensors..

Re: Can anyone help?

sucks. If it were me, I'd replace the sensors. It might get rid of your ELD code, too. But, if that comes back, you might have to swap that, too.

that sucks. your O2 sensors are expensive as ****. Well, OEM ones at least. And these links are from the cheapest place I buy OEM parts online (but they kinda charge hella on shipping)
$160 for the one on your exhaust manifold (#5 on the drawing)

and $240 for your post-cat one (#27 on the drawing)

That's my proposed solution.. unless someone can provide a better solution..

Re: Can anyone help?

Well it wasn’t the O2 sensors. Now my speedometer is not working and I am getting large variations in the charge output causing the lights to pulse. The variation is from 12.5-13.75 across the battery. Any ideas

Re: Can anyone help?

Try testing the alternator? Maybe it got wet in the wash or is going bad.

Speedo not working is either the dial assembly, the VSS (Vehicle Speed Sensor, it's on the tranny), or a bad/corroded connector/wire.

Also check all the grounds.

Re: Can anyone help?

Yeah the alternator was my next step but deal lord what a pain to remove. I checked the VSS I am getting battery voltage but only 5v and on the Ohms test it did not have any issues. I have not tested the sensor itself yet just the wiring. All the grounds tested ok too. Thanks for your help…

Re: Can anyone help?

5v is good. Probably the alternator. There should be an alternator/starter rebuilder in your town. Look under "alternators" in the phone book. They are a lot cheaper than new ones and usually can get a replacement then or next day.

Re: Can anyone help?

i had a civic do a similar thing. it turned out to be the wire loom under the intake manifold had rubbed some insulation off and was grounding out. i got 02 sensor codes, an srs light and my speedo went nuts and it wouldnt charge correctly, leaving me stranded on a couple different occasions. i put it on the lift, taped my wires and the problem was no more

Re: Can anyone help?

Dear dpcpeoriaserver,
this is the first useful Info I received about this P0141 Issue.
I have a 2002 Civic EX, with the P0141 error.
My OBD II reader can erase codes, but that Check Engine Light comes on again within a blink.
So I replaced the Sensor 2 (under driver seat) in catalytic converter.
(Watch out at Auto-Zone, the part is just 49 or 59 bucks, but you want to check the connector, there are 2 different ones).
Same Error ....:-(
So I replaced the Sensor 1 (Front of the engine under the hood)
The error still comes back on.
My Gas- Mileage increased with the new sensors from 33 miles/gallon to 37 miles/gallon
So the Sensors pay for themselfes.

I hope that You're right about the wires and it's just that.

Re: Can anyone help?

@ 43 Wolf: Download the service manual- https://www.civicforums.com/forums/1...e-updated.html The diagnostics all point to a bad wire for the 2002-2005 models.
