Unhappy need help 1998 civic ex

first let me start with the car was running just fine (1998 civic ex, 2 door 4 cy, d16y8, I decided to do some maintenance to it since i just bought it ( has 133000 miles) replaced fuel filter, started it up, started fine, checked for leaks no leaks, then replaced the rotor, cap, and wires, went to start it up, started for 3/4 seconds then it turned off, wont start, check for spark, it appears to have no spark, checked all ignition fueses, there fine, i thoght could it be the coil, could it be the module, before i start spending money, both parts are very expensive, can anybody point me in the right direction, any help i would greatly appreciate. one more thing when it started i had the lower part of the airbox off, woldnt think that would affect it to start, i also noticed when i check for spark, the plugs were some what wet with fuel.

Did you ever get your civic fixed. I seem to have the same problem. Not wanting to spend money on parts that are working and not knowing which part is bad

This topic is almost a year old.
Spark plugs with fuel foul usually= flooded engine. Been there, done that. Buy a new set, let cylinders air out. Put new plugs in. Start car with gas pedal floored and it should push any remaining fuel out.
