cat converters
I have a 2000 civic ex with a few bolt on upgrades. I am about to have to replace the cat on it. Would my car still run like it should if I just get rid of it altogether or do I need to spend the money and replace it?
Re: cat converters
If you are in a area where the emssions do not care then you can just remove the cat and it will run fine. You will need a o2 sensor eliminator though cause without the cat the secondary o2 sensor will throw a code. The only thing the cat does is help smog and stuff. If you take it off you will experience alot of black sut on the back of your car. But if you want to just replace then thats your decision man. Its up to you.
Re: cat converters
just don't remove it if you have a straight through muffler or fart can. it will be way too loud, and draw attention to you.
on most vehicals there is little difference in performance, unless it's clogged up, but i doubt that.
if you are doing it for performance reasons, just spend your money on something else, you will see better gains for your money in a different area.

Re: cat converters
The main reason I did it was because it was clogged. It runs great. Better than it ever has. The only problem is the check engine light stays on. No big deal for the performance I got out of it.
