Want to start a project car, please help.
Hey, my name is steve and im new to these forums. I recently decided i want a civic, and to make it into a project car with the end goal of reaching about 500 WHP. Im big into cars, and know alot about them, however i know close to nothing about civics. I was thinking about buying a DX hatch for cheap, and then doing an engine swap first, and then modding that engine followed by body and suspension work and then finally interior. I have a few questions reguarding this. Im pretty positive that i would like 1999 DX hatch, or a 2000. Would this be a good model of civic to start a project car? Or would an ex be easier? I like the whole hatchback look though when theyre done up right. My second question is that what is the engine in the ek DX civics from factory? My third one is what would you reccommend for the best aftermarket engine to put in one, an h22, a k20 or something else? I plan on boosting the engine, with possibly a full race turbo kit if possible. And finally my last question is what are some good performance sites for ek civics? Such ones that include engine work, body kits and accessories, and some interior stuff. Ive just started my searching but figured if i posted here id be able to find some good help. Thanks guys i appreciate ot, sorry for all the questions.

Steve, head on over to d-series.org and start your research. Lots of good sponsors on that site, tons of tech info and much better support for your needs. Just do some research first before posting up your questions.
As far as what platform and engine to go with, all depends on your budget. DX hatchies are nice, but as soon as you venture into DOHC OBD-2 land (in otherwords, k-swap), engine management becomes ridiculously expensive.

If i were u, i would look at the EG hatches just because of the weight difference. That, and they're much cheaper to come by that some of the newer ones.
