Pioneer P7300 DVD/lcd unit..anyone got it?
my 21st b-day is in about a month and my "money bags" grandparents said i have 1k to spend, of course when someone like myself is saving for a new car they would pocket the money and save it for a bigger down payment but me, i figure i'll spend it on ICE for this car and when the time comes, take it out my old car and just put it in the new one
anyways, i'm looking at the Pioneer DVD/lcd unit, the p7300, i figure it will look good above my Pioneer CD player. i'm confused about something though, do you need a reciever to go with it? naturally i want the sound to come from the car speakers and someone told me thats what a recievers for, then another person said something about like hooking it up to my cd player since it has a AUX feature and i would only need a reciever if i want a remote control (which i dont really care about). i dont know if either one of those shady characters are right or can be trusted though...they are my friends. so if anyone perhaps has one or knows a little about them could please help me out. thanks.

basically that unit is just a cd player and a dvd player. no radio. you could run both units whih would allow you to play a movie and listen to a separate cd, or you could sell your unit and get an all in one unit, which i believe is the 7480 or 7490.

so if i dont listen to the radio (which i never do) i would be fine? i would be able to hook it up to my speakers without the receiver?
The DVD player unit has to have a brain unit in order to play movies and CDs. 7480 and 7490 are the ones to go for. You can also purchase the brain unit seperately like AVM-P7000R, AVM-P8000R, or the AVM-P9000R. I used to have a 7300 work with AVM-7000R, but I would say get a better ones. Why don't you go for the 6500 which is the newest model? It costs $1100 on Ebay and has MP3 function+ touchscreen panel. Everything is ready to install, and the prices are much more reasonable than other systems. Hope the information helps.
