I would go with the 4-8's and use passive radiators, you will get frequencies so low from that setup it will blow your mind
(Passive radiators are highly technical in nature, you can't just put any sub in for the passive so look into that before you start building your box)
(Passive radiators are highly technical in nature, you can't just put any sub in for the passive so look into that before you start building your box) 1 10 will play lower and take up less space, the 4 8's will more liely than not get louder if you give them more power.
that 10 will reqire less power too.
and both of those woofers, 8w6 and 10w6, are awesome woofers, youd be happy with either, from an SQ perspective...... assuming you got the range you wanted.
i would reccommend the 10 simply becuase your most liely gonna want a response as low as possible.
we sell 10w6 used for $175, so you should figure a little elss than that. maybe 150? 125? less even? we sell them for 175 tho.....

I would have to disagree with the rabbit on this one. The 4-8's will play LOUDER (granted you power them correctly). There is more surface area on 4-8's than there is on 1-10" It may be desirabel to go with the 1-10" because it will take up less space, but it won't be louder, so you'll just have to decide what your priorities are. The 8's will proly need passive's to play lower too.

four 8's is the way to go. if youre a n00b then dont go passive radiator or have somebody that can design do it for youi and build it. If your not gonna do this just build a ported box.
why are 4 8's the way to go? a single 10 takes up less space, less power, and plays lower. its clearly the superior woofer in every way minus SPL, which, in teh end, and especially in this case, must take a back seat to frequency response.
Re: Help with Sub pricing..
OK, 2k2SilverCivicSiR, what are you looking for? SPL? Freq Response (with more work, the 8's can provide better, but its a LOT of work)? Minimum space used? What is your goal. i think we have provided more info than you prolly wanted. Neither choice is better than the other one if you pick it for the wrong design goals for your system.

well... im not going ot be entering in any contest or anything.. just want a little poundage going....
so from what i hear, the 10" seems to be the way to go...
the 8's seem good but need a lot of work which in this case is a lot of money.. haha... so i think i might go with the 10"...
Thanx for the help... you guys are helpful.. hehe...
PS.. i dont want to start another flaming war here....
